Spring 2007 Recap

Picture Provided by S3 Magazine

With everyone recap for every event, there is a always a theme.  Without a doubt the theme for the Spring 2007 event was "record setting"

Largest turnout (smashing previous records) for both Saturday and Sunday

Fastest Class Winners EVER in 3 classes

Fastest Pass Made By a Competitor

We want to thank everyone who came out to this years Import Showdown.  We know it was more crowded than usual, as the huge turnout slowed down tech lanes and staging lanes.  We apologize to those we asked to wait before buying tech cards to help ensure everyone had a fair opportunity to run.  However, without a doubt with was the BIGGEST, BEST Import Showdown ever!  We had 600 spectators and 100 racers on Saturday and 1100 spectators and 175 racers on Sunday!  Both of these shatter our previous attendance records.  Our competitions were faster than ever.  And much to the pain of main people, we saw a Grand National take home a trophy.  Imports will need to step it up next year to ensure the crown returns to the Import World.  Other events would simply regulate the GNs out - with the Import Showdown you have to earn it, but that is what the event is about.  We paid out $3000 in cash and trophies this year, making one of our highest payouts to date.  Our Showdown winner took home a cool $750 dollars, not bad for a afternoon of racing.  We also saw all winners recieve gift certficates to Spec, plus we saw giveaways from S3 Magazine, Spec, and Import Showdown.

As with all Import Showdown events we want to thank our sponsors S3 Magazine, AutoFab Motorsports, Spec Clutches and Flywheels, Southern Car Customs, AAM Racing Engines, Lethal Injection Tuning, and 4G Performance.  We would also like to thank all of the volunteers from GA DSM who make this event happen.  This event is by volunteers and we turn all of the money we collect back into the event!!  We could not have had the success of this event without the people who make the drive to attend, race, sponsor, and volunteer!  A HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who makes this THE SPORTSMAN DRAG RACING EVENT IN THE SOUTHEAST!!!

On a final note, we would like to extend our thanks to those who donated in the memory of, honored the moment of silence, and joined the caravan for Val.  The donations will help Vals favorite charity in her honor.  The caravan brought a smile to her family's face to see the support for her, and the moment of silence gave us all an opportunity to honor the memory of one of Atlanta's greatest car scene faces.  VAL FOR PRESIDENT!

Please stay tuned for pictures, videos, and complete results.  We working as hard as we can to pull these together as quickly as possible.  If you have pictures or video you would like us to host for you, please email us at info@importshowdown.com
