Fall 2006 Recap

We want to start off by thanking all of the volunteers from GA DSM that help put on this event.  I think some people still do not realize that this event is 100% volunteer and we literally pay back all money taken in from the event.  We put on this event just because it is an absolute blast.  That would not be possible without the countless volunteers who spend their own time and their own money to help out!  I would also like to thank our sponsors Pro Automative and 4GPerformance!

We've done many of these Import Showdown events, but this one was by far the most fun.  The competitions were amazingly competitive, with the fastest times we've ever seen at an Import Showdown event.  Not only were the times fast, but the competitions were close, with some decided by hundreths!  Though not the largest Import Showdown, easily the most competitive and most fun!  Congrats to all of our competition winners and everyone who supported the event by coming out.  We would also like to send a special thank you to Lethal Injection and TopSpeed who both brought a number of customers out and showed a great deal of support for the event!  We would also like to give a special thank you to the members of the Starquest club.  The Conquest/Starion crewed number 17 from all over the entire southeast!!  We have plenty of other shops and clubs that support this event, so we apologize if you didn't get named here - but we definitely are thankfully to everyone who supports this event.

This year was the test and tuners dream.  We had one attendee get 30 passes, that's right 30 passes.  Our test and tuners really seemed to love the additional hour of test and tune time at the end of the day!

As with all Import Showdowns the diversity of vehicles who attended and raced was like none other.  DSMs, Hondas, EVOs, STIs, Supras,  Porscahes, BMWs, Conquests/Starions. 240s, RX7, Mazda6s - even Gran Nationals, Mustangs, and Camaros - you name it, we had it.  We also love the diversity of cars, it makes for an entertaining day.  And the Import (Eclipse GSX) vs. Domestic (Gran National) Showdown final only illustrated the possibilities with this event and added to the exictment.

We are definitely looking forward to 2007!  We are already looking at a number of improvements in the works for Saturdays activities and the competitions.  This event keeps getting faster and more competitive and we expect that trend to continue!
